A quiet and shy fellow, but well known within the community. He works for Barrio Skateshop, and DJ's some nights. A very versatile man. His name is John Reyes. He started around the year 2008 when he was just in the 8th grade. That's when he found his love for electronic music. He recalls being in school, mostly under the radar "unpopular" as he phrases it, and he would see these so-called "revelers". John thought to himself, "why not be the person to provide music for them?" From there he started watching tv shows like Border Nights which was basically a tv show based on the party scene in Juarez and some other places. From that tv show, the idea of getting a dj name stemmed. Another tv show that influenced his life was one on Tele-hit called Electronic meeting point which was about partying all over the world like Ibiza. He smiled as he thinks back on those memories. Even, as a young lad he was ready to party or at least have a good time. His years in high school consisted of wanting to finish his tests earlier so he could go on the computer and start surfing the web. However, one day he found an app on the computer where he could remix music and there is where he found what he loved. He started downloading electronic music, remixed it and showed it to his friends. They encouraged him to keep going. It wasn't until 2013 that he really took off, after the violence in Juarez went down. His first show was at Prestige and after that it just took off. He is one of the few dj's that still uses CD's and not a usb like other dj's. Very different compared to the norm within today's electronic scene. Something he wanted to add was how much he looks up to Richie Hawtin. You can follow ad reach out to him on Instagram: John12mago
