All the way from Monterrey, Mexico hails this indie rock band: Bilbao. (Yes, the same Monterrey that Frank Sinatra sang about) This band is made up of four talented young fellas: Abdiel Alonso Torres Hernandez (guitarist), Aarón Eusebio Lozano (vocalist), Carlos Ariel Lozano (drums), Álex Iván Hernández Salazar (bass and back-up vocals). I recently got to talk to them and they are currently in Mexico City doing interviews for their upcoming material. They just hope to expand their music beyond Monterrey city. These boys were formally known as Lioné and they decided to change their name to Bilbao about a month ago for the release of their new material. They mentioned that they decided to change their name because they wanted something "stronger". Lioné means lion in basque and Bilbao is a basque country. They just thought it would be a better fit for them. I asked them how they would categorize themselves to which Alonso and Aarón answered "rock, indie and even electro-pop". They are influenced by bands like Little Jesus, Maná, and Oasis. I then asked them what made them different from other Mexican indie-rock bands and they said "mentality". They hope that with this new material they can achieve a lot. I asked Aarón and Alonso what their new single "Azul" is about. Aarón answered "Azul is about an idealization of a woman in a very abstract way." They hope people will enjoy their new material and they will be releasing a single about every two-three months. Go follow them on their social media: Instagram: somosbilbao Facebook: Bilbao Thanks guys!
